Nikolai Ulyanov

In 1889-1900 he studied at MUZhViZ from N. Nevrev, I. Pryanishnikova, K. Savitsky, V. Serov. and became acquainted with Nikolai Ge, and Leo Tolstoy.
In 1901-1903 worked as assistant in the studio Serov and K. Korovin. In parallel, he taught drawing in the butcher's treasury School, in 1901-1906 he taught in private schools E. Zvantseva and A. Hotyaintsevoy and gave lessons in his own studio.
In 1907 he traveled to Italy, in 1909 - in France, in 1912 a scholarship fund Polenova visited Germany and Italy (together with P Muratov).
In 1911 participated in the World Exhibition in Rome, received an invitation to FT Marinetti's Futurist movement to join. Since 1911 and a permanent member of the exponential (until 1923) Exhibition of the Union of Russian Artists. In 1913 joined the association “Mir Iskusstva”.

In 1917 became one of the founders of the trade union painters in Moscow.
Retrospective exhibition of paintings took place in 1951, 1961, 1975 in Moscow, in 1978 - in Leningrad. In 1965, the State Pushkin Museum has been shown "Pushkiniana" by Ulyanov.
Creativity of Ulyanov represented in many museums and private collections. The most significant collections of his works are at the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum.
